David Ebersman is the new head of finance at social-networking site Facebook. Ebersman, formerly executive vice president and CFO at Genentech, will start at his new position in September.
Hosted document-management company eGistics Inc. has appointed Timothy Kick to head the finance function. Kick comes to the firm from EDS, where he was CFO of the Financial Services Industry Group.

Facebook is now amid a legal quarrel after the Electronic Privacy Information Center, a group that advocates Internet privacy, filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission on Thursday, arguing that recent changes to the company's privacy policies are violating federal laws.
At the heart of the battle are the changes in policy made by the social network a little over a week ago about what information is available to the public and indexed by search engines or just visible to friends.

As CFO of the world’s largest social-networking Web site—Facebook claims 200 million users worldwide—Mr. Ebersman will report to founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg on all financial matters and real estate operations.
“He was Genentech's CFO while revenue tripled, and his success in scaling the finance organization of a fast-growing company will be important to Facebook,” Mr. Zuckerberg said in a statement.
