The article focuses on why leaders should be people who are willing to opt for a bold course of action when everybody else is choosing the middle path. The devastation inflicted upon the US financial system and global economy due to unchecked bad decisions made by executives has made the-powers-that-be extremely cautious. We continuously get to hear of new ideas that seek to rein in unrestrained risk-taking. Many of these ideas focus on the assumption that it was greed which drove most investment bankers to make reckless decisions, but that amounts to a pat conclusion which would inevitably lead to other grave problems in future. The need of the hour is to make sure that leaders exercise good judgment consistently.
